Yet, as we approach the holiday season, many hearts are heavy as we face empty chairs at our tables, traditions that don’t feel the same anymore, and new normals we didn’t ask for. As I’ve fought the storms I find myself in, it would be easy to blame God ... and at times, I have. Yet, his word reminds us: “He does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone.’ Lamentations 3:33 CSB At times, I’ve struggled to stay afloat, and maybe, like me, you’ve cried out for the luxury oceanliner or even just a tiny fishing boat to rescue you and lead you back to the safety of the shore. Instead, Jesus has handed me a rescue ring to see out the storm. The waves still batter me, and I’m cold and tired, but he’s not letting me sink. And, He won’t let you sink, either. Remember, “For The Lord will not reject us forever. Even if he causes suffering, he will show compassion according to the abundance of his faithful love.” Lamentations 3:32 CSB If this season is breaking your heart, know it’s breaking His heart, too.
